Our mission is to develop and implement an innovative, nonpartisan agenda of scholarship, public education, and legal action that promotes equality and human dignity, while safeguarding fundamental freedoms.
 
Criminal Justice Policy Foundation
Nonprofit educational organization that promotes solutions to the problems facing the criminal justice system.  Offers nationwide database providing information on clemency and commutation of sentence and provides samples of the actual forms required by the states where they are available.


The Detention Watch Network (DWN)  
National coalition addressing the detention crisis head-on and helps detainees and their loved ones make their voices heard. Formed in 1997 in response to the rapid growth of the immigration detention system in the United States, DWN is a network of individuals and organizations working in support of, and in service to, immigrants in detention.


Drug Policy Alliance  
Organization working to promote new drug policies and to promote alternatives to the war on drugs. Site includes library and research briefs.
 
Families and Corrections Network
Helpful resource for families, caregivers and children with loved ones in prison.

Justice Policy Institute

The Justice Policy Institute is a nonprofit research and public policy organization dedicated to ending society's reliance on incarceration and promoting effective and just solutions to social problems.

 

Justice Works
A nonprofit organization that advocates on behalf of female prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families.

 

Leadership Conference on Civil Rights 
Resource for current news, events, reports and organizations. Also includes information on hate crimes and affirmative action. 

 

NAACP 
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a civil rights organization for ethnic minorities in the United States.
 
National Association of Drug Court Professionals 
 
National Council of La Raza
Private, nonprofit, and nonpartisan organization focused on reducing poverty and discrimination, and improving opportunities for Hispanic-Americans.

National H.I.R.E. Network 
National clearinghouse for information and an advocate for policy change. HIRE works to increase the number and quality of job opportunities available to people with criminal records by changing public policies, employment practices and public opinion. Also provides training and technical assistance to agencies working to improve the employment prospects for people with criminal records.

 

The Real Cost of Prisons Project
Real Cost of Prisons Project works to strengthen and deepen the organizing capacity of grassroots prison/justice activists, to provide a social, economic and political context for understanding mass incarceration and to broaden public understanding of the economic and social consequences of mass incarceration. 

 

The Sentencing Project
Information about crime, courts, sentencing, criminal justice policy analysis, punishment, alternatives to incarceration and reform. 

 

Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities
TASC is a nonprofit organization that provides behavioral health recovery management services for individuals with substance abuse and mental health disorders. Through a specialized system of clinical case management, TASC initiates and motivates positive behavior change and long-term recovery for individuals in Illinois' criminal justice, corrections, juvenile justice, child welfare, and public aid systems.
 
Vera Institute of Justice
The Vera Institute of Justice works closely with leaders in government and civil society to improve the services people rely on for safety and justice. 
 
The Partnership for Safety and Justice  
The Partnership for Safety and Justice exists to coordinate a progressive response to the criminal justice system, and to build a grassroots, multi-racial movement that achieves criminal justice reform and reduces the over-reliance on incarceration in the western states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada.
 
Women’s Prison Association
WPA is a service and advocacy organization committed to helping women with criminal justice histories realize new possibilities for themselves and their families. WPA's services make it possible for women to obtain work, housing, and health care; to rebuild their families and to participate fully in civic life. Through the Institute on Women & Criminal Justice, WPA pursues a rigorous policy, advocacy, and research agenda to bring new perspectives to public debates on women and criminal justice.
